Mauro ZAMPOLINI is director of the Rehabilitation Department in Umbria, Italy and works at the hospital in Foligno. He is a lecturer at the University of Perugia where he teaches physical medicine and rehabilitation in the school of physiotherapy and specialisation in neurology. From the research point of view he deals with epidemiological aspects of disability, spasticity, rehabilitation of multiple sclerosis, stroke and severe cerebral lesions. Internationally, he is the president of the UEMS-PRM Section and he is a member of the European Academy of Medical Rehabilitation.
Prim. izr. prof. Breda JESENŠEK PAPEŽ je zaposlena kot specialistka FRM v UKC Maribor. Opravljen ima podiplomski študij iz nevrologije in se ukvarja z nevrološko rehabilitacijo. Doktorirala je s področja termografije in uporabe nevronskih mrež pri diagnosticiranju utesnitvenih nevropatij. Od leta 2009 je predstojnica Inštituta za fizikalno in rehabilitacijsko medicino. Pedagoško delo opravlja na Univerzi v Mariboru na Medicinski fakulteti, kjer je tudi predstojnica katedre za FRM, na Fakulteti za zdravstvene vede in na AME ECM. Je članica UO Združenja za FRM in članica RSK za FRM pri Ministrstvu za zdravje.
Doc. dr. Mohsen HUSSEIN, dr. med. je specialist ortopedije, zaposlen v Medicinskem centru Artros. 25 let se ukvarja s patologijo kolenskega sklepa, zadnjih nekaj let se aktivneje ukvarja s problematiko hrustanca oz. regenerativne medicine. Je avtor več znanstvenih in strokovnih objav. Prav tako je dejaven v mednarodnih strokovnih organizacijah, kot so: ESSKA, ISAKOS in ICRS.
Dr. Žarko VUČKOVIĆ is a general surgeon and a groin pain specialist in Aspetar Clinic, Doha. He has also worked as a team physician with a number of high level sports organizations throughout his career. Since 2009 Dr. Vuckovic has been focusing on diagnostics and treatment of sports related groin pain, treating more than 300 patients with this medical problem per year. He has been attending multiple international medical conferences and workshops as an invited speaker, and is the co-author of 9 scientific papers on this topic, including 2 consensus statements on groin pain terminology.
Doc. dr. Mitja BENEDIČIČ, dr. med. je specialist nevrokirurgije, ki se poglobljeno ukvarja s funkcionalno nevrokirurgijo (kirurško zdravljenje spastičnosti, kronične bolečine in motenj gibanja) ter s kirurgijo hrbtenice. Poseben interes izkazuje na področju sodobnega in minimalno-invaznivnega zdravljenja bolečine v križu z uporabo perkutanih tehnik blokade, infiltracije, radiofrekvenčne ablacije in modulacije.
Mag. Klemen GRABLJEVEC je zaposlen kot predstojnik Oddelka za rehabilitacijo bolnikov s pridobljeno možgansko okvaro na URI Soča. Trenutno je tudi predsednik UO Združenja za FRM in podpredsednik RSK za FRM pri Ministrstvu za zdravje. Njegov ožji strokovni interes je zdravljenje spastičnosti, rehabilitacija s pomočjo robotike ter ultrazvočna diagnostika gibalnega sistema. Je delegat Slovenije v Evropskem Združenju za FRM, kjer je tudi član upravnega odbora, zadolžen za komuniciranje in informiranje. Pri Evropskem Združenju tudi vodi strokovno interesno skupino za zdravljenje spastičnosti. Aktiven je tudi v Mediteranskem Forumu za FRM, kjer je član upravnega odbora. Je član strokovne skupine v svetovalnem odboru Svetovne zdravstvene organizacije za pripravo smernic za rehabilitacijo bolnikov z možgansko poškodbo. Je tudi prvi avtor slovenskih priporočil za rehabilitacijo odraslih po možganski poškodbi ter prvi avtor priporočil Sekcije za FRM pri UEMS za rehabilitacijo odraslih po možganski poškodbi. Je redno vabljeni predavatelj na domačih in mednarodnih strokovnih srečanjih in kongresih.
Monica VERDUZCO GUTIERREZ is Professor and Chair at Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at UT Health San Antonio. Dr. Gutierrez is formerly from the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston, where she was the vice chair of quality, compliance and patient safety in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and program director of the brain injury medicine fellowship. She was also the medical director of the brain injury and stroke program at TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital, rated the fourth-best hospital for rehabilitation in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report. Dr. Gutierrez grew up in South Texas, then moved to Houston where she earned her undergraduate degree at Rice University and her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her PM&R residency training at the Baylor College of Medicine-UTHealth Rehabilitation Alliance. Her clinical expertise encompasses: the care of patients with traumatic brain injury, stroke rehabilitation and interventional spasticity management.

Marta SUPERVIA POLA is Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician. The medical director of Cardiac Rehabilitation Program Coordinator at Gregorio Marañón Hospital. Head of Rehabilitation Research Group at Gregorio Marañón Hospital. Tutor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residents. Research collaborator at Mayo Clinic. ISPRM, SERMEF & SORECAR committee member. Member of the Development Group for Ischemic Heart Disease to the Development of WHO's Package of Interventions for Rehabilitation (Rehabilitation 2030). Author of several publications about Cardiac Rehabilitation. Invited speaker in several international Rehabilitation & Cardiology congresses.
Verena KLAMROTH is a physician and human geneticist. After gaining clinical experience in Neurology, she joined the Sensory Motor Systems Lab at ETH in Zurich in 2008. She participated in the development and clinical evaluation of the ARMin robot, a pioneering robotic rehabilitation system to train arm and hand functions after stroke. In 2018, Klamroth became a professor at R&D in the Department of Health Sciences at Zurich University of Applied Sciences. Verena Klamroth is also the medical coordinator of the Cybathlon, a unique championship in which people with physical disabilities compete against each other to complete everyday tasks using state-of-the-art technical assistance systems.
Dr. Zala KURET je zaposlena na URI Soča kot predstojnica Ambulantno-rehabilitacijske službe (ARS), kamor sodi tudi interdisciplinarni program za obravnavo bolnikov s kronično bolečino. Doktorirala je s področja kakovosti življenja pri osebah po amputaciji prstov na zgornjih udih, vendar se je nadalje usmerila v ožje klinično področje obravnave oseb s kronično bolečino in fibromialgijo. Razen ambulantne in dejavnosti znotraj interdisciplinarnih programov obravnave kronične bolečine, izvaja kvantitivno senzorimetrijo, ki predstavlja tudi eno izmed orodij v postopkih odločanja o uvajanju nevromodulacijskih postopkov, in je dostopna v Sloveniji zgolj na URI Soča. Glavno raziskovalno področje je usmerila na vplive različnih dejavnikov na razvoj in vzdrževanje kronične bolečine.
Takoj po začetku epidemije Covid-19 je tim za obravnavo bolnikov s kronično bolečino pričel prilagajati interdisciplinarni program, tako da od junija letos del vsebin teče v obliki tele-rehabilitacije. To je omogočilo dostopnost največjemu možnemu številu bolnikov glede na kadrovske in prostorske kapacitete.

Dr. Michael YOCHELSON is Chief Medical Officer at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to serving in that role, he was Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at MedStar National Rehabilitation Network and Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs for the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. He is board certified in physical medicine & rehabilitation, neurology and brain injury medicine.
He served as a physician in the U.S. Navy for over 11 years. From 2004-2006, he co-directed the mild TBI clinical team at National Naval Medical Center.
In 2006, he took a position at MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital as the medical director for their brain injury programs. He served in that position for five years, during which time he started their fellowship program in brain injury medicine, subsequently training 7 physicians in that field. He also co-wrote and co-edited a book for patients and caregivers, Managing Brain Injury: A guide to living well with brain injury. In 2011, he was promoted to the role of Chief Medical Officer, but continued to work in the field of brain injury medicine, serving as one of the clinical leads for concussion management for MedStar Health Sports Medicine.
He is Adjunct Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He has served in several roles in the AAPM&R CNS council and currently sits on the Engagement and Inclusion Committee. He was appointed by Congress to serve from 2014-2020 on a Federal Advisory Council to the Veterans Affairs on Prosthetics and Special Disability Programs, chairing the committee for 5 years.
In 2019, Dr. Yochelson was appointed to the Georgia Behavior Health Reform and Innovation Commission by Governor Kemp. In 2020, he co-authored the chapter on Stroke Rehabilitation in Braddom’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, 6th edition. Also in 2020, he was instrumental in Shepherd Center starting its first fellowship ever in Brain Injury Medicine.
Dr. Sara LAXE is the Head of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Clinic Hospital of Barcelona, one of the leading hospitals in Spain. She has developed her career in the field of neurorehabilitation with special interest in the evaluation of patients, new technologies and the use of the International Classification of Functioning participating in the development of the WHO Collaborating center of Barcelona. Her talk for this congress will focus the attention in the necessity of measuring in rehabilitation and describing the current tools for applying in the clinical practice the Rehab cycle and providing data regarding functioning and results of intervention.
Assistant Prof. Frane GRUBIŠIĆ, MD, PhD, specialist in physical and rehabilitation medicine, subspecialist in rheumatology, is Head of the Division for the Adult Rheumatology at the Department of Rheumatology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, University Hospital Center “Sestre Milosrdnice” in Zagreb, Croatia. His area and research interest are biomechanics, inflammatory rheumatic diseases, quality of life of patients with rheumatic and musculoskeletal disease and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal diseases. Currently, he chairs Special Interest Scientific Committee on implementing evidence based medicine in every day practice within European Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. Furthermore, he is one of initiators and promoters of the Cochrane Rehabilitation and serves as the co-chair of the Publication Committee within Cochrane Rehabilitation.
